Manufacturer, Cramer LLC, has recalled its Task*It 1-UP folding step stools due to a fall hazard caused by the step stool cracking or breaking and thus collapsing. The step stool, manufactured in China, is plastic, has two inward folding legs for storage purposes and the top step on the step stool is covered with black rubber treading.

This recall will affect around 6,500 units that were sold from January 2012 through December 2012 for between $30 and $40 at office supply stores such as SP Richards, United Stationers, and Staples nationwide and online at Amazon.com. To date 14 incidents of the step stools breaking or cracking have been reported, two of which resulted in the head, neck, and back injuries.
