A 26-year-old man was allegedly racing Thursday night when he lost control and struck two pedestrians, killing them both, the Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office said Friday.


The double fatal crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Pawtucket Boulevard, according to the DA.

Officials say 26-year-old Tyriek Brown of Everett was allegedly racing with another vehicle on Pawtucket Boulevard in Lowell when his vehicle veered off the road striking two pedestrians on the sidewalk. Officials say speed was a factor in the crash.

Jose Medina, 66 and Fernanda Medina, 62 of Lowell were rushed to Lawrence General Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Brown was also sent to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
