WILMINGTON, Mass. — Half of the deaths in Massachusetts have been in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities. One of the hardest hit is a nursing home in Wilmington, where more than two dozen residents have died.
Of the 98 residents who were living at AdviniaCare nursing home in Wilmington earlier this month, at least 80 have become infected with COVID-19, including at least 26 who’ve died.
Shannon Leonard’s 87-year-old grandfather is among the residents who has tested positive, but is not showing symptoms.
“I’m sure he’s very lonely. He has a good attitude, and a lot of the same staff are there. So, he’s OK. He’s comfortable,” she said.
