MASHANTUCKET, Conn. — Foxwoods Resort Casino announced Friday it would lay off a majority of its workforce without benefits beginning at the end of May.
The Mashantucket Pequot Gaming Enterprise had maintained health benefits in place for all employees since it closed back in late March.
“As we plan for a phased, incremental reopening of Foxwoods based on business levels, we have made the very difficult and painful decision to temporarily layoff a majority of our workforce without benefits beginning May 31st,” the company wrote in a release announcing the cuts.
Foxwoods said there was currently no confirmed reopening date, but was preparing the property for the first phase of opening for business. “Some team members will return based on which parts of the property we reopen,” the company said.
