On September 9, 2010, in San Bruno, California, a massive gas explosion resulted from a ruptured line owned by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).

While the cause of the explosion is unknown at this time, PG&E promised to accept responsibility if it is proved to be at fault. There are at least one dead and many injured due to the explosion, and there is no question that the incident is a major disaster for the families involved.
