The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently announced that American Honda Motors is recalling more than 50,000 of its new 2012 Honda Civic sedans. The recall was initiated based on improperly installed drive shafts, which may separate and cause the car to fail to shift into gear. Also, a parked Civic may begin to roll if the car’s manual parking brake is not engaged.

Beginning June 21, 2012, Honda will begin notifying the owners affected by this recall to bring their vehicles into local dealerships. Mechanics, there will inspect and, if needed, replace the car’s driveshaft for free. Currently, there have not been any reported injuries.
