The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) along with American Tack & Hardware Co. Inc. (AmerTac) has recalled about 272,000 of the Forever-Glo® Cylinder Nite Lites. It is recommended that consumers stop using this product immediately due to the fire and burn hazard that the product imposes.

 

The Forever-Glo® Cylinder Nite Lite is a light with a white base and clear top that plugs into the wall. The model included in this recall is Model Number 71107, Manufacture Code of SY. This model number and manufacture code can be located on the back of the night light.
This product has an electrical short circuit in the night light that may cause the product to overheat, smolder and melt which can result in burns or a fire. There have been nine reports of the product smoking, burning, melting, and charring.
Consumers have been advised to immediately stop using the product and unplug it from the wall socket after turning off the power at the circuit box.
