As the warm weather arrives and windows are opened more often, the potential for children to fall increases significantly. Swartz & Swartz, P.C. has extensive experience handling many forms of premises liability claims. For example, we recently achieved a 1 million dollar recovery for an 18-month-old girl and her mother. In that case, the toddler suffered a significant closed head injury after a fall from a second-floor apartment in which the window screen had become dislodged. Landlords and owners are often responsible for safely maintaining screens, as well as ensuring that apartments comply with all applicable building codes.
