In what can only be described as a nightmare scenario for relatives, an 18-month-old baby boy drowned in a city lake in Worcester, Massachusetts. Police and firefighters responded to a call to Indian Lake at about 11 a.m. on Thursday after reports of a missing boy.

After investigation at the scene, the boy was found unresponsive in the water. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Drowning tragedies occur for various reasons, including issues relating to inadequate supervision by lifeguards or other water safety personnel, and inadequate safety precautions such as fences and life-saving equipment.
